“It is not merely the likeness, which is precious, but the sense of awareness involved in the thing...The fact of the very shadow of the person lying there fixed forever” - Elizabeth Barrett Browning, 1843
I have always been fascinated by Photography's multi-faceted relationship to time. The sheer possibility of capturing, in a fraction of a second, a fleeting moment that will never repeat itself in exactly the same way, seems magical to me. Most of my images are about places and objects that show the effect of time; a weather-worn wall, a frayed hem, an object smoothed by many hands that touched it. These objects and places all whisper stories to my imagination, touch me and compel me to make images that help me remember in the future the experience of the past. For me gathering these small fragments of time is the magic of Photography.
